Reflect on your successes as a BTC group in 2013 and what you would like to accomplish in 2014. Be descriptive, tell when you think we should hold the initiative and why.
As a member in the BTC student committee, I feel that together our committee had alot of successes in 2013. One of our successes in 2013 was when we held the intiative "We Scare Hunger", instead of staying inside the school, rasing awareness we were able to collect cans outside of the Mcmurrich community. However, our school also was inspired to bring in cans (mostly because of our skit at the assembly). I felt proud of us in BTC when I got to witness students lining up to go to class with bags of cans, and later feeling the accomplishment of actually bring the cans into the truck for the North York Second Harvest Food Bank. In conclusion, 2013 was a acommplishing year for BTC and in 2014 we will have more intiatives to help our school come together and make change.
We had a lot of success in 2013 but I think the most success came from We scare hunger. I think we scare hunger was a success because not only did we collect a lot of cans but when we went out to houses we made other people outside of the school aware of the issue hunger. I think that if we keep working together we can accomplish a lot more in 2014.
Personally i think we had a great success from the "Philippines initiative" i thought this was a great success because we were able to all work together as a group and we got it out in a week, and we were able to collect money for the people who live in the Philippines.If we continue to work together and be on task and focused then we will defiantly accomplish more and help others quickly and work on more initiatives.
I think that we had a great success on the Typhoon initiative because we worked together and got it accomplished in about a week and that is a hard thing to do, but we got to do it. We also did a good job on the We Scare Hunger initiative because we got many people's attention with the skit, the letter, the announcements, and the posters. We also informed our audience in a way that every age group would understand.
I think that we should do a money drive for cancer to help scientists find a cure. I think we should launch it in either March or May because that is the middle of the year and we will have lots of enthusiasum.
I think that we had a great success on the "We Scare Hunger" initiative. All of the groups met the deadlines for what they needed to do. The skit we did for this initiative really helped us out because I feel like it really motivated the students of McMurrich collect non-perishable food items. The community letters we handed out was also successful because we got a lot of cans from it.
This year, in 2014 I would like to do the 5 days of freedom initiative. The last time when the other BTC group did this initiative, all students were well aware of this issue. I thought that they really spread the message and it was very effective.
This year, in 2014 I think BTC should focus on clean water and how different countries or villages access it. When watching a video on the Free The Children website about the 5 pillars of sustainability I realized that we still haven't brought change to the clean water pillar this year. We could run this intiative between We Create Change and We Are Silent, or after We Are Silent to end off the school year. Lastly, I think this initiative is important to have, so we can inform our school how we are thankful for having these resources, and how other countries are impacted without this resource at their fingertips.

I think that the initiative that was most succesful was the typhoon haiyan initiative vbbtc came together very quickly and on short notice. i think that in 2014 we need to work on powerful initiatives that the students mostly create because lately BTC has mostly been run by the teachers and the students need to contribute more. one idea is poetry night because that initiative is school wide, not only BTC students are in it, and also students do mostly all of the work.

i think this year we should do pancake day in may because the last time btc did the inititave they were very successful. Also i think they should do poetry night because it was very successful and people thought it was fun.
I think we should participate in the inititave five days of freedom because it was very sucsesfull 2 years ago and really draws in students attention. It is also cool because you do activities that make you feel like you live in a 3rd world country. I also agree with Hannah that we should do poetry night because it is a good way for students to express themselves and raise funds.
I think we should start up Poetry Night in March because a lot of the students in the school like to participate in this event. It lets us share our poetry to students and family but also raising money for free the children. Also we should start up we are love because last year students of the school sort of ran the event therefore hopefully it will be a big success this year.
I think in 2014 i think we should launch WE ARE SILENT to help spread awarness on bullying in our communty by going silent for one whole day, I think we could launch this in March. I also like the idea of panckake treat day because its a very good way to raise money for the less unfortanute children in many countries, I think we could launch it in April. Finnaly, i like the idea of raising money for clean water that some people do not have, i think we could launch this in May
the year of 2013 was amazing, i felt that the btc group really got along and were ready for upcoming obsticols in our way. on certain annisiatives we were ready to put it together in a very short period of time. We were able to have several innitiatives that were very succesful and allowed us to really change the world.Poetry night has been a very great tradition that raises alot of money and lets the students really get involved in what were trying to help solve, i also loved Alyssas idea of haing a anitiative about cancer. I think we should do that initiative because many, many peple relate to the tragic problem of cancer and spreading awarness about the issue would be really good, also we can raise money and donate it to scientists/hospitals to help stop the issue
I think that we should do the fundraiser for collecting pennies for families that have no access to clean water. I think that we should do this because it was a huge success last year, helping 50 families to have access to clean water. Which reduces the amount of girls from families walking to far distances to fetch water for their families. Also reducing the number of families getting their health affected from the contaminated water. Therefore we should do this initiative this year, maybe adding our own ideas.

I think we should dedicate one day in May for the vow of silence, because then we get to think about how other children just like use around the world who aren't as fortunate as we are. They need but don't have the five things that any human being needs. Food, clean water, shelter, cloths, and warmth. Also, to be able to feel the way children feel like in child labor who don't have a voice against their masters.

ReplyDeleteIn 2014 this year we can run a fundraiser for endangered animals and raise money and give it to the WWF or someplace else and start it in March.
